Rumor about putting Turf on the Football Field in Montague

Just wondered if anyone else has heard this.... I am personally furious about what I have heard. I cannot say with any certainty if there is any truth to it, just wondered if others have heard similar stories? Anyway, I recently heard that Double LL and other officials in charge of maintenance of Montague Football field have been purposely neglecting it (not fertilizing, watering, etc) so it would fall apart this season, therefore influencing voters to pass the bond to get turf installed. I know this is a political move, and this sort of thing happens all the time. But c'mon people, this isn't right.

Please don't egg my house........

I haven't heard the rumor but it doesn't surprise me one bit. :(

If anyone listened closely to the interviews with the superintendents when both Whitehall and Montague wanted millages, one would have read between the lines and realized these superintendents were either clueless or lying. When I asked the reasoning for installing artifical turf on what was formally the finest Soccer Field in the County, Mr. Sipka stated
"The football field is NOT where the Soccer field was",
which sent Son, who played Soccer on that field and watched football games at that field, into a cursing tyrade, saying
"where the ***** did I play Soccer, in the ***** 100 year woods???" (there was much more cursing)
Ohhhh, he was IRATE.
And then Mr. Sipka proceeded to say that the field was "enhanced" with construction dirt gleaned from remodelling the High School, which supposably "damaged it". Well, I'm no contractor but this feeble minded person can vouch that putting construction dirt on an athletic field was a dumb move, IF that was even done. It was a perfectly fine piece of grass. Again, please don't egg my house, but I didn't believe a word he said after those statements.

Ms. Dongvillo stated similar opinions when the question about the baseball field was brought up--drainage problems? It sits on a HILL.....She blamed the Army Corps of Engineers for bad construction. Again, sadly I couldn't believe what she said.

I remember when Montague schools wanted to replace RROehrli--that school was not touched for 28 years so it would fall into such disrepair that "the powers that be" would get it replaced. Voters finally got their way and it ended up getting remodelled. Now Shoreline is falling apart. Politics? Sigh. Y'betcha.

The last Montague football game was moved to Holton (artificial turf!) "because of poor field conditions". I'm sorry. I don't believe it.
