The folks over at www.ludingtontalks.com have been having quite the conversation about torture, in light of the new memos that Obama released.
It seemed to me like a pretty politically smart move. Everyone knew we were doing these things, probably best to get it out in the open and say that anyone acting "in good faith" on the legal advice won't be prosecuted. It protects people on the ground while still kind-of apologizing for it.
but then, probably a few people in the area think it's nothing to apologize for.
I think that this stuff has always went on from the beginning of time. But now with the ability of the press to be present in things they really should not be, has brought so much to the forefront that we as regular people do not need to know or to have this stuff put in our faces. I do not think we need to apologize for anything. If these are the tactics that have kept us safe, so be it. I don't read anywhere in my Bible that says we have to be kind during war time to our prisoner's. An enemy is an enemy. They are not our friends. And we are an enemy to them and if they feel they need to use certain tactics to get info from us...so be it. All is fair in love and war. We become a weak nation if we let other countries know our business. This administration has done no one any good. It just keeps getting worse and worse. A slap in the face to those who voted for this administration.
