ROTHBURY RESIDENTS HOPING FOR RESIDENT TICKETS FOR ROTHBURY FESTIVAL ARE FURIOUS AND RIGHTLY SO...IF YOU LIVE ON THE WRONG SIDE (EAST) OF OLD 31 (OCEANA DRIVE)YOU WILL NOT RECIEVE ANY COMPLIMENTARY TICKETS...HMMMM DO WE NOT GET AFFECTED / INCONVENIENCED BY THE INCREASE IN TRAFFIC AT OCEANA DR / WINSTON RD????? HOW ABOUT THE INCREASED WAIT AT THE PUMPS FOR GAS AT WESCO IN ROTHBURY??? THE INCREASED WAIT IN LINE AT THE REGISTERS???? THE OVERCROWDING AT OUR HOMETOWN BAR ROTHBURY TAVERN????THE INCREASED WAIT AT THE PARTS STORE OR THE HARDWARE STORE???? DO THEY REALLY THINK THAT WE CANNOT HEAR THE NOISE FROM THE PARTYING?? SEE THE TRASH ON THE SIDES OF THE ROAD??? WE ARE RESIDENTS OF ROTHBURY JUST AS WELL AS THE RESIDENTS ON THE OPPOSITE SIDE OF THE ROAD ARE AND I FOR ONE AM COMPLETELY OPPOSED TO THIS KIND OF TREATMENT OF OUR RESIDENTS AND WE WILL PROTEST/ BOYCOTT AND HAVE PETITIONS SIGNED BY EVERY AVAILABLE RESIDENT THAT WAS KICKED TO THE CURB IN OUR OWN HOMETOWN.

Kinda stinks that one had to pay upfront and then get refunded, but that's also good business sense as I can imagine a lot would sign up to volunteer and not show up if it were handled on the honor system. Too many cheaters out there nowadays.

I guess you have to draw the line somewhere as far as who gets freebies and who doesnt. If the line were extended past 31, the folks across the street would be unhappy. Whaddya-gonnado? Except for maybe not give ANY free tickets away....

you had to volunteer for the 4 day weekend and you had to purchase your ticket at the end of the weekend if you had put in all of your hours they were to send you a refund of your ticket price.

Pam, when you volunteered, did you get free tickets?

Well Michael......first let me say small town America is not wrapped into "whats' in it for me syndrome" ..furthermore I'll have you know I volunteered most of that weekend and the cleanup that followed...I was trying to be an advocate for those residents whom had gotten left out!!!! BUT....included myself as part of the communtiy in general....next time you decide to be rude to someone you know nothing about maybe this will be a reminder to you that not all things are as they seem when someone small minded as yourself goes into attack mode.

Typical small town thinking "What's in it for me".

you'll learn after this year, pamela. Get groceries, fill up on gas, etc. before everybody shows up. i just barely got through the weekend without having to go grocery shopping.

i could hear the noise from montague, too. and the stoplight waits were about three times as long. but the benefit is, there were 33,000 people that drove through whitehall, montague and rothbury. spending money the whole way. annoying, yeah. but probably gave a much-needed boost to those businesses.
